The Odyssey of Tommy Atkins

Commemoration | Perton Library
Dates From | 16 Sep 2015 to 16 Sep 2015

Andrew Lound is back at Perton Library by popular demand to deliver another of his trademark interactive illustrated presentations, this time to support our programme of events for Local and Community History Month. Andrew’s lively and well researched presentations have become hugely popular with local audiences so tickets are expected to sell quickly!

The Odyssey of Tommy Atkins is a truly remarkable presentation. The story of the Great War as told through the eyes of a generic British soldier—Tommy Atkins. The story is told in a series of letters from Tommy Atkins written to his wife Alice. The letters and Diary entries are taken from original material. Tommy is a reservist who re-joins his old regiment at the outbreak of war.

The whole story is supported by period images, music, sound effects and numerous props. It is a production that will have an emotional effect upon the audience.

A performance to remember!
