THURSDAY APRIL 6TH 1916: A PENNY FROM EVERY HOME

To keep soldiers supplied with smokes

Fair collectors wanted for every street. There are over 2000 men on the list, cigarettes duty free 12 a penny. All smokes go to Burton and District boys. If undelivered all goods are returned to Burton Red Cross Hospital. To keep the fund going strongly £50 a week is wanted. If every local household gave one penny weekly the money would easily be raised.
