Dedication of Eccleshall War Memorial, 1921

Research into Eccleshall’s Great War fallen

Eccleshall Historical Society have launched a project to commemorate the centenary of the Great War.  They are looking for help to research the stories of those named on the town War Memorial which stands in the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church.  46 names are on the memorial, and the project aims to create a more detailed and lasting epitaph for the fallen, for our and future generations.

The aim is to research all 46 names listed to discover:

• Family history

• Photographs

• Date and place of death

• Location of internment or commemoration

The research involved could be quite challenging, but is guaranteed to be fascinating and rewarding.  Anyone is invited to help, young and old, Ecclian or not!
