Discovery Day

Commemoration | Staffordshire Regiment Museum
Dates From | 29 Aug 2016 to 29 Aug 2016

Let one of the museum’s WWI personnel take you on a guided tour of our extraordinary WWI trench system, complete with its’ Regimental Aid Post (RAP) and learn how an injured ‘Tommy’ would receive medical treatment. See the ‘funk holes’, stand on the ‘fire step’, visit the officers dugout and learn of the tunnelers deadly underground war. Keep an eye out for any sign of a gas attack. YOU may be the one required to sound the alarm. Move to the German trench with its ‘pillbox’ and hear of their war.

Try on a reproduction uniform and maybe handle a 1915 Lee Enfield rifle. An event not to be missed in this year commemorating 100 years since the Battle of the Somme.
